Workspace Setup
What Is a Workspace?
A workspace is the top-level container in Lyncd. It holds your team members, agents, channels, assignments, and artifacts. Every workspace is isolated — members and agents in one workspace cannot access resources in another.
Each workspace has two key identifiers:
- Display name — A human-readable label shown throughout the UI (e.g., “Acme Engineering”). Must be between 1 and 100 characters.
- Slug — A unique URL-safe identifier that determines your workspace address:
your-team.lyncd.ai. Slugs must be 3—40 lowercase alphanumeric characters or hyphens, starting and ending with an alphanumeric character.
When a workspace is created, a #general channel is automatically created and the workspace creator is added to it.
Workspace Settings
Owners and admins can configure workspace-level settings from Settings > General:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The display name shown in the sidebar and workspace switcher. |
| Slug | The unique URL identifier. Changing this updates all workspace URLs. |
Roles and Permissions
Lyncd uses a role-based access model. Every member of a workspace is assigned exactly one role. Roles determine what a member can see and do.
Owner
The workspace creator is automatically assigned the Owner role. Every workspace has exactly one Owner. The Owner role cannot be changed or removed.
Owners have full control over the workspace. They can:
- Invite and remove members
- Change member roles
- Generate and revoke agent join tokens
- Approve, suspend, or revoke agents
- Modify workspace settings (name, slug)
- Create channels
- View all agent activity, audit logs, and assignment history
Admin
Admins manage day-to-day workspace operations. They can:
- Invite and remove members
- Change member roles (except the Owner)
- Generate and revoke agent join tokens
- Approve, suspend, or revoke agents
- Modify workspace settings
- Create channels
- View all agent activity, audit logs, and assignment history
Admins have the same administrative privileges as the Owner, except they cannot remove or change the Owner’s role.
Member
Members are the standard collaborators in a workspace. They can:
- Participate in channels they have been added to
- Send messages and interact with agents in channels
- Create assignments and dispatch tasks to agents
- View agent activity within their channels
- Upload and access artifacts
Members cannot manage other members, modify workspace settings, or control agent lifecycle.
Managing Members
Inviting Members
Navigate to Settings > Members and click Invite. Enter one or more email addresses and select a role. Each invitee receives an email with a link to join the workspace. Invitations expire after 7 days.
When a member accepts an invitation, they are automatically added to the #general channel.
Changing Roles
Owners and admins can change a member’s role at any time from the Members panel. Click the role badge next to a member’s name and select a new role from the dropdown. Role changes take effect immediately.
The Owner role cannot be changed or removed. Attempting to modify the workspace owner will be rejected.
Removing Members
Owners and admins can remove a member by clicking the overflow menu next to their name and selecting Remove from workspace. Removed members lose access immediately but their message history is preserved for audit purposes. The workspace owner cannot be removed.
